Corey began playing piano at the age of 9, studying with Gloria Matthies and Loren Hiebert. From 2010-2014, he studied at Brandon University under the tutelage of Megumi Masaki, graduating with a Bachelor of Music and Level 10 Certification through Royal Conservatory of Music.

During university, Corey suffered a repetitive-stress injury and spent time systematically re-learning healthier approaches to playing piano. He now shares these techniques with his students, watching them diligently for signs of stress or tension in their playing. Within 2 years of teaching full-time, Corey's teaching schedule filled up completely with a long waitlist.

In our September 2021 to June 2022 year, Piano Expressions with Corey hired our first "team teachers". Students that take lessons with our hired teachers enjoy a similar experience as lessons with Corey himself, as Corey shares his full curriculum, resources, music games, fun challenges and recital opportunities and monitors each student closely. The expansion creates opportunities to get off the wait list and begin lessons!

Corey's Portfolio

When Covid-19 hit, we all spent a lot more time in our homes social distancing. With the intent to inspire his students to continue practicing and achieving their musical goals during online lessons, Corey set out to learn and record 100 piano pieces in 100 days. We hope you enjoy browsing through these playlists!

A Christmas Tapestry

Joseph Martin

In October-November 2021, Corey spent 6 weeks learning and recording Christmas Music. These creative, mesmerizing, and challenging works were an absolute joy to put together. All 15 pieces from Joseph Martin's "A Christmas Tapestry" were released on YouTube on December 1, 2021, with a view of Corey's hands as he plays!

Says the Piano

Here are the first 26 pieces recorded in my "one-a-day" challenge which began on March 22, 2020 -- the day our piano studio moved to online lessons during the beginning of the Covid-19 Outbreak.

These were all learned and recorded daily, and posted to my social media to inspire my students to keep practicing!

Alexandra Stréliski

This set of 11 pieces are heart-wrenchingly beautiful, and were a lovely addition to my Covid-19 Challenge. The challenge ended up becoming my "100 Pieces in 100 Days" challenge!

Alexandra's music here is so soft and flowing, with wonderful patterns.

Alexandra Stréliski

I loved the first 11 pieces so much, that I learned the other 12 pieces from her Pianoscope album!

I learned these over a period of about 3-4 days, then recorded all 12 pieces within a day! Please enjoy listening to this beautiful and relaxing playlist!

Selections from...

Holland Albright

Holland Albright is a video game and movie music composer from New York City who has written insanely great music! I decided to pick a few pieces of his to highlight during my challenge!

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do! They're FABULOUS and have such a great variety of tones and colours!

Yann Tiersen

Yann Tiersen writes incredible music for piano, taking harmonies and patterns and weaving them in the most intricate and beautiful manners.

You almost hold your breath while you listen to these gorgeous pieces. I hope you enjoy this playlist of his whole book: EUSA!

Selections from...

Jacob Ladegaard

For my final 24 pieces (plus 2 bonus pieces), I selected the majority of Jacob Ladegaard's solo piano collection.

He writes such beautiful and accessible melodies, which was a perfect way to finish off my "100 Pieces in 100 Days" Challenge! Thanks for listening!
